In our first six months of operations, we shipped some 850,000 tons of steam coal and nickel ore from Indonesia to China and India. Indonesia is the 2nd largest producer and exporter of Thermal Coal and has some 20 billion tons in economically recoverable reserves of which 63% are sub-bituminous. Growth in production and exports, primarily to China, India and other Asian nations has averaged 10% since 2002. The country’s Coal reserves are concentrated in Sumatra, East, South and Central Kalimantan, areas BS Global knows well. We have entered into long term off take agreements with well-established mines, working closely with miners we know well that are shipping monthly. In some cases we support them with pre-export financing in order to facilitate an even closer working relationship. Indonesia’s abundant nickel ore reserves are located in Southeast Sulawesi and Maluku Islands. The BS Global team has been involved in Nickel ore exports since 2007 and know most if not all of the performing mines in this sector. We work especially closely with several Indonesia’s leading mining groups, in particular Antam and have been shipping monthly from Tanjung Buli, Halmahera and have a permanent team based at this port. Critical to our clients’ success, is assurance of quality and on-time performance. We work only with miner’s we know well and, in many cases, have performed for us in the past. Choosing mining partners involves more than just a mine visit and authentication of documentation. It involves a stringent assessment of mine design, operations, logistics, local political issues and other factors. Our skill and experience in mine due diligence and assessment means BS Global is often commissioned to undertake mine surveys for clients looking at acquisition or joint operations in Indonesia. We have also invested in our own laboratory equipment in both Singapore and Indonesia. We view risk management as both an operational and market driven discipline.
